(I've known for a while that I do, in fact, have a funny face, so feedback on this point is not needed)
So I asked a question over at Tumblr yesterday and got a few interesting responses, and I thought I'd bring it on over to DeviantArt for even broader feedback:
Recently, I've become a big fan of Alatar's Blue Magic podcast, a show about makin' smut! Each episode's an hour-long discussion with a guest artist/writer about their process, inspiration, and thoughts towards creating erotic art. It's a really interesting show that covers a side of art that you don't hear about very often, even when you're waist-deep in it like I am!
The latest episode was all about artistic styles- making one, changing one, and learning others. It featured a discussion between Alatar and their two amazing guest artists- ZoeStanleyArts and DieselBrain - about what exemplifies each of their styles to the others- including callouts on particular parts that the respective artists didn't expect.
Made me think about my own style, and realize (pretty quickly) that I'm not sure what constitutes the Shaxbert style in the first place. Obviously it's informed by my storied past of drawing a certain pair of Nintendo princesses- nearly every character I draw has bold outlines, bright colors and a slightly-uncomfortably-big head, but that's about it. I'm actually really curious as to how you guys would describe the Shax style- good, bad, and inbetween!
(It's not just for idle curiosity, either; I've been wanting to experiment with some new tech lately, and it'd be handy to know what parts I should work on- and what parts people actually really like to begin with.)
Any sincere feedback would be appreciated! Hit me up with a Comment, or send a Note if you'd like to keep it private .
